CIO Office Integration

Streamline and integrate two investment propositions into a single strategy and team

Integrate the investment management function of an acquisition to the Centralised Investment Proposition

What was needed

Our client was a large full-service wealth manager acquiring another similar business with its own central investment propositions and supporting research and oversight departments.

They required assistance in reviewing the proposition and process undertaken by both firms to identify gaps and synergies.

They were looking to draft an integration plan to ensure a smooth transition to the acquiring firm’s process and infrastructure, while preserving the acquired firm’s core models.

Client and staff communication was of critical importance to minimise the potential for this to be a disruption event and asked Solve to lead the programme.

What we did

A small team was introduced to the client to assess the two investment propositions. The team focussed initially on a review of the core policies, procedures, governance structure and processes across both firms.

As part of this initiative Solve:

  • Highlighted areas of key risk and gaps in functionality or process
  • Provided guidance on the how to adapt the current operating model to successfully integrate the acquired firm’s proposition
  • Managed cross-party stakeholders
  • Ensured there was a clear communications plan both internally across the organisation, as well as externally to clients and key financial advisors

What was achieved

Solve provided an integration plan that was approved and supported by both organisations.

This covered the technical aspects of a data migration, the impact on risk management and the integration of the teams into a new organisational and governance structure.

The programme was successfully migrated to an internal project manager and team to progress the implementation, with continued support provided by Solve on the areas of data migration and systems implementation.
